First, of course, is that you should have a character set up in a session or set up to join a new session group.
Your order must be determined, and a mod must be aware of the order for easier modding.
At that point, you may open pesterchum/trollian/whatever and chat however you want as much as you want between characters but you must have an active mod to help along the entering of the game and gain/loss of grist.
How grist works so far:
You start with an amount of grist based on how many players are in the session and what order they are in. The amount gets bigger the closer you are to being the last one in.
This grist can be used in several ways. The first obvious and most important when starting, is that your server can use your grist to build onto your base. This will use up grist quickly though, depending on how it's spent. Goods thing you have monsters to battle to gain more!
Grist is also spent on the alchemization process, to the discretion of the acting mod due to lack of any way to make a system for it. Simple items will always be cheaper than more elaborate ones though.
Grist can also be used to build up towards the gates ontop of your house. Sure, you could rp it out with some extensions, but we think that calculations would be so much easier if we gave you a way to just say "ok, its closer to the gate" or "yay, we made it to the gate!"
Basically, you let the mod know that you want to build to a gate, and they'll give you an over all cost- which can be payed for in incriments of 1%. At each percent you pay, is another percent closer you are to the gate...kind of like a loading bar You may pay as many incriments in one payment as you want or can afford at that time.
That's the current use of grist, though we are working on a conversion so that sometime you may turn that grist into B, our site currency.
